OOTD--18 December 2012

Last night was our Christmas Coffee (we call them coffees, but it's really like a dinner and information gathering for fighter pilot spouses).  It was another thing I could dress up for, so I did.  Because why not.

close up!

OOTD--Xmas Party Edition--14 December 2012

Yep!  Another specialish day...Christmas Party 2012!  We have so few reasons to dress up here that we generally go all out for the holiday parties.  I hopefully will have a better picture soon...of course I'm in the brightest shade of pink dress I could find!
{updated picture!  My friend Kim's picture of us}

Dress--Eliza J from 6pm.com (tip...my tall friend next to me is wearing the same dress in black, but bought it for more than twice the price from Nordstrom's!  So check out 6pm, it's pretty boss).

OutfitS of the Day--13 December 2012

Yes, OutfitS, plural.  This is rare kids.

Outfit #1 is a non-standard as well.  Today was the Officer's Spouses Club's Holiday Tea, and our theme was Alice in Wonderland.  Backstory before you see the dress:  this summer I was doing a little shopping at one of the Japanese resale shops and found this dress.  The print is tea cups and saucers, and it was only 2000 yen (roughly $25ish), so I knew I had to have it for the tea.  It didn't zip past mid-back because my ribcage is too wide, but I figured I could make it work one way or another.  Fast forward to about two weeks ago when I realize I should probably get that thing altered and take it into a local alterations shop.  She doesn't really speak English, I barely speak Japanese, but I walk outta there pretty sure I know what's going on...two weeks later, I pick up this beauty, and it fits gorgeously.  She said "Impossible!"...but apparently it was not!

The rest of the outfit rundown:  the tights are Alice in Wonderland print and I got them and the fascinator at my favorite Japanese accessory store.  The jewelry I believe I got from Kohl's on a trip to America, and I have zero idea what website I bought those shoes off of!  My Red Queen counterpart is Karolina and she's wicked creative.  We totally didn't mean to play Red Queen White Queen, but apparently we did!  We collaborate well together.

Outfit #2 was on for a max of one hour tonight.  Then I gave up and put sweatpants on.

Pants--AE
Tank--The Buckle
Top--Express
Bracelet--Etsy
Headband--Korea
Sneakers--Simple.

OOTD--7 December 2012

On Friday, I put "real clothes" on again (most of the week involves me running around doing errands in yoga pants...I'm terrible) for a picture.  We went to update my last name on my military spouse ID...as soon as she asked me to look at the camera, Jason asked, "Oh, is this why you dressed up?"  Men...

My favorite part of this shirt is the buttons up the back!

Jacket (not shown)--American Eagle denim
Shirt--Gap
Jeans--Express
Scarf--Afghanistan
Boots--Nine West

OOTD--3 December

Yesterday I fought valiantly against the urge to put on a hoodie to run errands.  I won!

Shirt--Old Navy
Pants--A&F
Handkerchief--"acquired" from a friend's house in college.  Sorry friend, pretty sure I meant to give this back...
Earrings--those sugar skull and red rose ones (I'm hopelessly matchy-matchy)
Shoes--yellow Chuck Taylors

I should mention this outfit idea came from a blogger whose style I adore, My Corner View.  She's the right mix of pretty and rock and roll, a mix I feel but don't always feel like I carry out well.  Specifically these pictures inspired me:

I almost sold those red pants before I saw that picture...I just didn't think they looked that good.  This blog is sorta my go-to now when I need inspiration for an outfit.  Second is Pinterest :)  The handkerchief is just so pin-up...love it!

OOTD--29 & 30 November 2012

I had a Thanksgiving lunch with the Japanese officer wives the other day and wore this:

Skirt--Staring at Stars
Bracelets--Japanese accessory store in Hachinohe
Booties--Shoedazzle
Necklace--Black pearls and rosewood from Tahiti <3
Earrings--Bangles & Bags (I tried to get some detail to show these off...they're favs)

This transitioned well into another outfit later that night and admittedly, for the next day (yes I'm gross.  Whatever):

Socks--from Don Quijote

OOTD--26 November 2012

I was actually going to dress up today...but then it was cold.  Maybe that's because I won't let Jason turn the heat up in the house....but regardless, I knew I'd be spending a good half hour or so out on the flightline for a friend's final flight in the F-16.  So I dressed warmly.
Scarf--Korea
TShirt & Cardigan--Mossimo
Jeans--A&F
Boots--EMU (they're well, well loved...can you tell???  They're about to go on their fourth winter in Asia.  This might be their last...before I go and buy the exact same pair to replace them)
Earrings--Sportsgirl (one of the shops I adored in Sydney.  Was super excited to "match" them with this outfit!  Yes, nerd).

Retro OOTD--22 November 2012

A friend took this picture on Thanksgiving, so I figured I'd throw this OOTD up.

Shirts--aerie and Old Navy
Scarf, shoes & cords--American Eagle
Earrings--BX and a Japanese accessory store (plastic posted earrings are actually pretty bomb...they don't irritate my ears at all!)

OOTD--24&25 November 2012

Yep...two days.  There was a walk of shame involved...sorta.  Yesterday was Maggie's birthday and there's an 11pm curfew...we either had to be at home or on base from 11pm-5am last night, so we just crashed on Mag's floor/couch.  This is a terrible picture from brunch today, but really the only one we got that shows most of the outfit.

Jacket--American Eagle
TShirt--Mossimo
Jeans--Abercrombie & Fitch (yes, for reals)
Earrings--Bangles & Bags
Shoes--Converse (black low top Chucks)
